Professional Profile

My name is Geri, I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited CBT therapist and EMDR Consultant working with Think CBT from Honley, Holmfirth. 

I am a Senior Psychological Therapist with over thirty years experience of working with people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties. I am an accredited member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have received additional training in Systemic Family work, Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR, CBT-E ,CBT-T and CBT for Long Term Health conditions. I attend many short courses and workshops.

My experience includes working with people with anxiety disorders, depression, self esteem, eating disorders, BDD and body image, cancer and bereavement.

I also have experience of working with women experiencing the menopause 
I am an integrative practitioner adopting a collaborative treatment approach and really value building a helpful therapeutic relationship with the people I work with. I adhere to best practice/ evidence based clinical guidelines but also offer a flexible approach to best suit the needs of the people I work with.

I have worked in the NHS, Local Authority and the Voluntary sector and I have also worked in an Occupational Health Team providing therapy for work related issues.

For many years I also worked in Child and Adolescent mental health latterly specialising in eating disorders where I was the Clinical Lead.

I have also worked in an addiction treatment centre engaging in therapy with patients and their families.

I currently work part time with people experiencing long term health conditions, as well as in a University Health Service and private practice.

I also provide therapy to Adoptive parents and Foster Carers as well as to professionals working within this area.

I currently offer video call (eg. Zoom) and telephone appointments.

I abide by the policies and ethical standards laid down by the BABCP and I have full professional indemnity to work as a therapist in the UK.

I am a registered practitioner with AXA  and BUPA  insurers
