My name is Amy Peach and I am a psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. I lead Cognitive Behaviour Therapy services for Think CBT in the Canterbury and Coastal area of Kent, with clinics in Folkestone, Hythe, Whitstable and Canterbury. I can also provide appointments in other local areas by mutual agreement with the client.
I have been practicing as a specialist therapist for over 5 years with a further 4 years of experience working with young people and adults with disabilities.
I am committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment and abide by the code of ethics of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) and the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). I have a Masters in Addiction Psychology & Counselling, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies (CBT) and have recently completed the IAPT CBT Supervisors course with The University of Surrey.
My experience in NHS commissioned services, addiction rehabilitation centres and private practice has enabled me to develop an effective and person-centred approach to therapy which centres on helping you overcome the obstacles that are stopping you from reaching your goals. I work mainly with adults experiencing moderate to severe levels of distress who might be experiencing one or more of the following problems; trauma-adjustment difficulties, stress and secual performance anxiety in addition to the specialisms listed below.
Both CBT and ACT are scientifically proven to be effective in the treatment of a wide range of mental health problems. They offer a practical and collaborative way to help you face difficult thoughts, emotions, memories and sensations, learn new coping tools and develop the courage to take values-led action. I love these approaches because for me, they offer an evidence-based path to support you improve your relationship with yourself and others and make a life that is meaningful and worth living.
